Your account is topped up automatically using your Steam login. Make sure you enter your login, not your public nickname, so that the money goes to your account. You can find it in your Steam profile settings.

If your account is level 0, Steam may automatically change its region when you top up your balance. To keep your current region, add any free game to your library using the IP address of your account's country before making a payment.
